The Wick Field study area includes the southern part of Hackney Marsh, the Wick Community Woodland, the Eastern section of Mabley Green and the Northern section of Arena Field. The Olympic Park plans involve taking Arena Field temporarily to use it as a car park during the Olympic Games. Various REAP (Recreation and Environmental Action Programme) projects funded by the London Development Agency focus on Wick Fields, including the boulder in Mabley Green. Several environmental groups have an active presence in Wick Fields. Hackney Marsh Users Group, Hackney Community Tree Nursery & Forest Garden run educational activities to expand the use and appropriation of the Marsh and teach appreciation of the biodiversity of the area.
